From Svolvær: Lofoten Islands Silent Trollfjord Cruise

About This Experience

Set out from Svolvær harbour aboard a purpose-built hybrid-electric boat and cruise roughly an hour to the mouth of the legendary Trollfjord. Along the way you can take in the scenery from comfortable panoramic lounges and open multi-level decks, while the engaging crew share the history and nature of the Raftsundet strait. Because the boat runs on near-silent electric power, you glide into the fjord without engine noise — the 'silent' in the tour's name.

Deep inside Trollfjord, only a few hundred metres wide beneath sheer thousand-metre walls, you'll watch for white-tailed sea eagles soaring against the peaks. When conditions allow, the crew deploy a sub-water drone so you can see what lies beneath the surface too. It's a classic Lofoten adventure with a modern, low-impact twist — comfortable enough for all ages and one of the most-reviewed experiences in the islands.

What Travelers Say

Amazing trip, worth every penny. Seeing the sea eagles, the silent fjord was atmospheric and beautiful and the commentary was excellent and very informative-all fantastic.

Our family really enjoyed this cruise. It was informative and we appreciated the commentary as we cruised along. Nice touch for coffee served in mugs and free refills. The crew were engaged and the captain shared further information about the birds nesting in the fjord. Beautiful country!

Such a highlight for my last day on the islands. It started off overcast but clear, and ended with blue sky and sun. The boat is phenomenal. No such thing as a bad seat, and free to move around. service was extra friendly, and great commentary with call outs when we were near wildlife. The onboard bar and snacks were tasty and affordable. I would highly recommend.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Trollfjord cruise from Svolvær suitable for children and older travellers?

Yes. This is a comfortable large-boat cruise with heated indoor lounges and open decks, so it suits all ages and abilities — one reason it's the most-reviewed tour in Lofoten.

Will I see sea eagles in Trollfjord?

Trollfjord and the Raftsundet strait hold one of Europe's densest white-tailed eagle populations, so sightings are very likely. Wildlife is never guaranteed, but the crew know where to look.

What makes it a 'silent' cruise?

The boat is hybrid-electric, so it enters the fjord on near-silent electric power — no engine noise or diesel fumes, just the sound of the fjord.
